JOB DETAILS:
The Child Protection/GBV Coordinator will be responsible to plan, manage, oversee and monitor the implementation of NRCs Child protection and GBV programs. She/ He will be accountable for the formulation, design, planning, implementing, and ensuring quality implementation of child protection and GBV programming. The Child Protection/GBV Coordinator will also support the protection team in implementing community-based programmes in Kampala. In addition, he/she will contribute to capacity building of partner field teams on CP and GBV topics identified during capacity assessments and in line with programme design.

Generic Responsibilities
• Adhere to NRC policies, guidance and procedures Implement plan of action for the SGBV and CP portfolio (activities, budget and documentation).
• Follow up day-to-day progress implementation of Child protection and SGBV Programmes.
• Ensure compliance with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and protection guidelines.
• Ensure that project activities target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses’ new and better ways to assist.
• Promote and share ideas for innovation and technical improvement.
• Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents related with CP and SGBV activities.
• Ensure capacity building of CP and SGBV staff and transfer key skills.
• Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders in implementing CP and SGBV activities.
• Promote the rights of refugees, IDPs and Host communities in line with the protection strategy.
• Lead the preparation of ongoing situation reports, periodic updates and analyses, by compiling and analysing data, and related information on overall displacement crisis in Uganda, with a specific focus on child protection and GBV, and prepare written inputs accordingly to inform effective program planning, development and management.
• Support efforts to ensure AGD disaggregated data and inputs relevant to NRCs CP and GBV programmes are collected, analysed and reported in a regular manner.
• Establish effective leadership for the child protection sub-working group, map existing activities and undertake protection gap analysis.
• Support the elaboration of Standard Operation Procedures and standardized tools on CP and SGBV.
• Undertake field visits in the refugee hosting settlements, to assess and monitor progress, and establish contact with community groups and partners to keep abreast of protection updates and emergencies paying particular attention to child protection and SGBV.
• Design; prepare projects in the child protection (CP)/GBV sector in partnership with other stakeholders and government actors.
• Work with the ME team to Monitor, analyse and evaluate CP & SGBV project results to ensure achievement of objectives and take corrective action when necessary.
• Develop and deliver a deeper capacity building relationship with partners to improve protection-related service delivery to children, including GBV, and towards strengthening capacities of local NGOs for increased sustainability.
• Work to facilitate the understanding and importance of addressing child protection by all stakeholders, including through national level planning and investment frameworks.
• Ensure application of standards, guidelines and good practices for child protection activities.
• Participate in meetings with relevant state authorities, other actors and donors to discuss and represent NRC’s work.
• Promote knowledge management including through drafting/finalizing inputs into NRC sectoral programme documents and reports, including donor reports, sharing good practices, lessons learned, and knowledge/information exchange with all partners on NRCs work and response on GBV and CP, and harnessing knowledge institutions resources and partnerships as appropriate.

• Education and Experience
• A university degree in Law*, Social sciences, Psychology*, International Relations*, Development Economics; Peace and Conflict Studies*; or other relevant field.
• 3 years relevant experience in Child protection and management of Gender Based Violence programming in an international, humanitarian or human rights organisation is required.
• Language
• English is the working language; knowledge of any other local language is desirable
