REPORTS TO:
Head of Adult Medical Services
Job Summary:
The position holder will lead and manage the Radiography Unit at Mildmay Hospital Uganda, ensuring the provision of high-quality radiological imaging services that are safe, efficient, and cost-effective, while upholding the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence.
Key Result Areas:
- Client Care and Radiological Diagnosis: provide high-quality radiological imaging services to support accurate diagnosis, ensuring patient safety through optimization and justification principles.
- Radiation Protection and Safety: Oversee radiation safety programs in compliance with the Atomic Energy Act, advising management and liaising with the Atomic Energy Council.
- Departmental and Team Activities: Foster teamwork within the unit in order to have well-coordinated, efficient and effective radiological services.
- Research and Quality Improvement: Actively participate in research and quality improvement initiatives, and lead projects that enhance diagnostic accuracy and service delivery.
- Financial Management: Participate in planning, budgeting, and ensure prudent utilization and accountability of resources allocated to the Unit.
- Upholding Mildmay Uganda Values: Adhere to Mildmay Uganda’s values, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellence in all aspects of work.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiography/Medical Imaging from a recognized institution, and registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council, with a valid Annual Practising Licence.
- Training in radiation safety.
- Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience in radiology/sonography, experience in darkroom management and computerized radiography, plus knowledge of; HIV/AIDS care issues, laws governing ionizing radiation, as well as proficiency in imaging equipment and related software.
- The successful candidate must have demonstrable Leadership and team management experience.
