Job Overview
Objective: To accurately receive, inspect, document, and safely handle incoming materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring that all received items conform to purchase orders, delivery notes, and required quality and quantity standards.
Key Responsibility:
- Receive incoming goods, materials, equipment, and supplies delivered to the warehouse.
- Verify received items against purchase orders, delivery notes, and other relevant documentation.
- Inspect deliveries for quantity, quality, specifications, and any visible damages or discrepancies.
- Record all received items accurately in the warehouse management system and relevant documentation.
- Report shortages, excess quantities, damages, or other discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ensure received goods are properly labelled, identified, and transferred to the appropriate storage locations.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Stores, Logistics, and user departments regarding incoming deliveries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date receiving records and documentation.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials in accordance with warehouse and HSE procedures.
- Assist with stock counts, inventory verification, and reconciliation of received materials.
- Ensure the receiving area is clean, organised, and free from safety hazards.
- Adhere to company policies, warehouse procedures, and health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor
Authority & Independence
The Receiving Clerk has full authority delegated by the Warehouse Supervisor as per the requirements, duties and responsibility of the job
Work Conditions
- Based within the ICD warehouse environment.
- May require interaction with customers, transporters, clearing agents, and regulatory authorities.
- May require shift work, overtime, weekends, or public holidays depending on operational requirements.
- Must comply with safety requirements and use appropriate PPE.
Physical & Mental Efforts
- Must be mentally stable to contain stress and pressure.
- Must be of a sound mind.
- Good visibility since most times work will be done on computers.
- Sensory stability due to much concentration required for the job.
Education Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, Warehouse Management, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in warehouse operations, logistics, cargo handling, or ICD operations.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems is an added advantage.
Skills & Competences
- Knowledge of warehouse and cargo release procedures.
- Good understanding of logistics and documentation processes.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good computer skills and ability to use ERP/WMS systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and accountability.
