In line with our ambition, we are looking to fill the position of Research Manager in our Uganda operation to join and lead a team of equally enthusiastic research professionals to specifically drive one of our core practice areas related to Market Understanding and Strategy.

The Research Manager will be the primary contact for clients allocated to his / her portfolio. The Research Manager is responsible for developing existing and new client relationships and guiding the research team to ensure the quality and profitability of all aspects of projects and achieving his/her sales targets. The Research Manager is also responsible for providing strategic input on project design and analysis, managing and training the research team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proposals and Sales
• To ensure that technical input into proposals and pitches is provided to Senior Research Executives and Research Executives/RAs regarding research design, methodologies, deliverables and costings
• Consultation with global contacts and other experts to ensure an optimal design and proposal are accomplished to meet client needs and budget
• To keep abreast of current offerings and developments within Ipsos Uganda and in the research world at large to ensure that proposals and pitches are both competitive and differentiating

Technical Research Role
• To advise on the interpretation of findings and the planning of presentations/deliverables
• To add value to all deliverables
• To provide solutions expertise from a design, analysis and interpretive perspective

Project Management
• Ensuring that the SRES, Research Executives and Research Assistants complete all steps in the research process on time and to the expected quality standards.
• Skills transfer to and supervision of Research Executives and Research Assistants.
• Input into, and final checking of samples, questionnaires, report templates, analysis plans, focus group/IDI topic guides, analysis templates and presentations.
• Day-to-day client liaison in terms of queries and project status.

People Management
• Provide a role model for staff in terms of their own professional and personal approach to work
• Ensure that projects are distributed to individuals in the team through evaluation of capacity, experience and development needs

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience
• Bachelor's degree with upper second-class honours or a minimum of 4 years of relevant research experience at the executive level
• A master’s degree is an advantage
• Minimum 5 years of practical experience and understanding of the research process to coordinate a research project from start to finish
• Understanding of methodologies and techniques to provide input into research design
• Fluent written and spoken English and strong communication and influencing skills with proven ability to effectively communicate insights to all levels of the business in a practical, user-friendly and meaningful way

Additional requirements
• Capable of working with all internal clients and attending meetings with external clients whenever required
• Demonstrated client focus on business decisions
• Continually extend and actively share expertise in Ipsos´ tools and techniques
• Ability to work and deliver under pressure
• Good report-writing skills
• Self-driven, results-orientated, shows exceptional initiative and is focused on quality and profit
• Good management and supervisory skills
• Time, costing and project management skills
