Description
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is hiring a Research & Market Development Officer to support growth in Uganda’s capital markets by transforming complex data into actionable insights.Gig Economy Resources
Reports to
Director Research and Market Development
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
- Conduct comprehensive gap analyses and surveys to identify bottlenecks in Uganda’s capital markets and propose data-driven reforms.
- Undertake action-based research to demonstrate the business case for market-based financing among external stakeholders.
- Research and identify opportunities for new capital markets instruments to deepen and diversify the Ugandan market.
- Develop evidence-based research papers that directly support the evolution and reform of the existing regulatory framework.
- Monitor global technological trends to ensure Uganda’s capital markets remain competitive and secure.
- Communicate research findings to intermediaries, industry/trade associations and professional bodies on the existence and benefits of market-based financing, and investing in capital markets.
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Person Specifications
Education and Training
- An upper second- or first-class Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution/university in:Primary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)
- Economics
- Statistics
- Commerce
- Business Administration (Finance)
- Or any other related subject
Skills and Experience
- At least one (1) year’s relevant work experience, preferably in the capital markets industry, with broad knowledge or interest in capital markets.

- A high level of integrity and professionalism
- Ability to initiate projects and read extensively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Communications & Media Studies
- Ability to manage effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated and results driven

- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret legislation and policy
- Computer literacy, i.e., proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
