Senior Finance Officer

Women in Technology Uganda (WITU) is recruiting a Senior Finance Officer to strengthen financial leadership across its digital skilling and employment programs for young women.

Role Summary

The Senior Finance Officer provides strategic and operational financial leadership to ensure strong financial management, donor compliance, and organizational sustainability. Success in this role means accurate financial reporting, effective budget control, clean audits, and financial systems that enable timely program delivery. The role works closely with program and operations teams and reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily financial operations including accounting, cash management, and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with organizational policies and accounting standards
  • Develop and manage organizational and project budgets in collaboration with program teams
  • Monitor budget utilization and provide variance analysis and financial guidance
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with donor agreements, grant conditions, and reporting timelines
  • Lead financial reporting for proposals, grants, and donor audits
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and follow up on audit recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Provide financial oversight for procurement and asset management
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff and strengthen financial capacity across teams
  • Promote accountability, transparency, and ethical financial management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is an added advantage
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in NGO or donor-funded programs
  • Strong experience in budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and compliance
  • Experience working with multi-partner or consortium programs is an advantage
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
