The Senior HR Officer will provide strategic HR leadership and compliance oversight for the regional office, supervising the HRO and ensuring HR practices align with JCRC policy and Uganda labour law.
Responsibilities or duties
- Identify and rationalize staff career and training needs
- Ensure contracts and personnel records are complete and up to date
- Oversee Activity All leave administration
- Guide payroll management in liaison with Finance
- Advise on HR/employment matters per Uganda Labour Laws and JCRC T&Cs
- Own HR progress reporting and workforce analytics; follow up on HR work plan implementation
- Handle employee disciplinary issues, grievances, and conflict management
- Counsel staff on job-related/personnel concerns
- Manage staff welfare and engagement initiatives, including wellbeing programs and medical insurance administration
- Monitor and drive performance management system implementation across the region
- Implement staff induction policy and program
- Support internal/external audits and follow up on recommendations
- Perform any other work-related duties/tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements
- The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor degree in human resource management, industrial psychology and a post graduate diploma in Human Resource management.
Experience needed
- Seven years progressive experience practicing human resource from reputable entitles specifically those implementing USG funded projects.
- Ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have good interpersonal and team skills.
- Must be professional with high confidentiality skills
