About the team

The Hydrology and Water Resources team at PEC is a multidisciplinary group of hydrologists, water resources engineers, environmental specialists, and GIS analysts. The team supports national and regional infrastructure projects including dams, water supply systems, transport corridors, flood mitigation schemes, and climate-resilient developments. Working closely with civil, structural, and environmental teams, the unit provides technical leadership on surface water assessments, flood risk management, catchment planning, and climate impact studies. The team places strong emphasis on technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and mentorship, with senior staff guiding junior engineers and graduates through complex project work.

In this role, you will...

  • Lead the preparation and review of hydrological assessments for infrastructure, environmental, and water resource projects
  • Undertake detailed hydrological analyses including rainfall-runoff modeling, flood frequency analysis, catchment yield assessments, and water balance studies
  • Develop, calibrate, and validate hydrological and hydraulic models using industry-standard software and methodologies
  • Provide technical input to the design of dams, drainage systems, flood protection works, water supply schemes, and transport infrastructure
  • Ensure all hydrological studies comply with national regulations, international guidelines, and client requirements
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, drawings, and supporting documentation for submission to clients and regulatory authorities
  • Review and quality-assure hydrological deliverables produced by junior staff and project teams
  • Mentor and support junior hydrologists and engineers through technical guidance, training, and performance feedback
  • Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and scheduling related to hydrological tasks
  • Participate in client meetings, stakeholder consultations, and technical presentations
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, tenders, and technical methodologies

You'll thrive in this role if you...

  • Have a degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Possess extensive professional experience in hydrology or water resources engineering within a consultancy or project-based environment
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of hydrological modeling, flood risk assessment, and water resource analysis
  • Are familiar with Ugandan water sector regulations, environmental guidelines, and regional standards
  • Have experience leading technical studies and managing project deliverables
  • Own problems end-to-end and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done.
  • Have a humble attitude, an eagerness to help your colleagues, and a desire to do whatever it takes to make the team succeed
  • Are an effective, high throughput operator who can drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize ruthlessly.
