Background information about the job or company
Electrical Technician will be supported by back office Electrical Engineer for electrical activities, and they will be managed by site operations lead regarding site responsibilities for PS1 perimeter or PS4 perimeter or PS5 perimeter. Electrical technician who will be located at MST will be under direct site authority of Maintenance superintendent. Electrical technicians will be in charge to the electrical maintenance activities in defined perimeter. Electrical Technician will report to Electrical Engineer. According to the perimeters, the electrical technicians will be subject to travel to remote sites.
Depending on the assigned perimeter, Electrical Technician will be required to travel to remote sites.
He/she is responsible for maintenance and inspection activities within the assigned area. for example MST perimeter: 1 Marine tanker loading terminal ,1 marine terminal site ,2 Pressure reduction stations, 1 solar farm, 12 Main Line Block Valve station. Line pipe perimeters are 290 km length.
EACOP electrical equipment type are mainly:
- Pump package driven by electric VFD motor up to 2 M Watts.
- Electrical Control Panels, MCC, Switchgears, PLC’s, VFD’s, MoV’s, & CB’s,
- Diesel generators (4 M Watts)
- MVs, HV & LV Systems
- Hydraulic systems (loading arms, Gangway, accumulator, etc)
- Actuated valves up to 30” diameters
- Building electrical wiring system and lighting system
- Air Compressors
- Nitrogen generator
- Fire Heater, Heat Exchanger, Electric Heater
Responsibilities or duties
- Monitoring day-to-day Operations and Maintenance (Round) of the Standby Generators, UPS, BESS, Grid supply and Solar systems for Crude Oil Pipeline facility.
- Assist in Monitoring, troubleshooting and diagnosis of complex electrical systems including MV & LV switchgears, VFD, 3 phase motors and controls, AC & DC batteries, control circuits motors.
- Assist in execution of major maintenance of equipment and fixtures, such as motors, emergency diesel generators, circuit breakers, and fuse boxes, control relays.
- Execute all Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenances (CM) activities (both planned and unplanned maintenances of electrical equipment so that to ensure optimization of equipment efficiency and availability) for the electrical systems.
- Report in Work Orders system (CMMS), activities done and anomalies.
- Ensure the electrical maintenance of equipment, plant and associated systems/facilities are carried out in a safe and effective manner.
- Respond as appropriate to any electrical system upsets and emergencies.
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping and safe work practices in and around the work areas.
- Promote and implement company safety, health, and environment policies.
- Ensure that maintenance activities are performed in strict compliance with COMPANYs current safety rules and operating procedures and in accordance with best industrial practices/standard.
- Ensure effective implementation of electrical annual maintenance plan for the MST and crude oil facilities.
- Carry out fault-finding (troubleshooting) and diagnosis of problems affecting plant system and propose corrective action/measures to anticipate and prevent downtime or re-occurrence.
- Participate in Maintenance Campaign Activities during routine planned or emergency maintenance of campaign perimeter area and ensure it is done safely and efficiently.
- Assist in Preparation of daily and weekly maintenance reports.
- Assists in the Preparation of Procedures for operation and shutdown instructions.
- Contribute to HSE performance in line with EACOP objectives.
- Assist in the preparation of the Work Packs, Permits to Works, Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks for the maintenances.
- Provide feedback regarding site operating Procedures (SOP’s) as to improve procedure.
- Effective implementation and execution of annual electrical maintenance plan for the dedicated perimeters.
- Provide feedback regarding spare parts and consumables stock level or other issues.
- Perform any other duties relevant to the scope of work that may be assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements
- Higher Diploma or Full Technician certificate (FTC) in electrical engineering or similar.
- Recognized License for electrical Certification by ERA , Class B Permit is a must.
- MS office good experience.
Experience needed
- 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry, power generation and mining industries.
- HV, MV and Power plant distribution experience.
- Experience with transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, battery systems, and protection relays
