NUWODU invites suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:
Position Title: Sign Language Interpreter
Duty Station: Amuria
Report To: Program Officer

Purpose
The purpose of the Sign Language Interpreter is to support the effective performance of NUWODU staff with hearing impairment in carrying out their duties and responsibilities through the provision of Sign Language Interpretation services and excellent communication at the office and in the field.

Responsibilities and duties
• Bridge the communication gap between the Deaf staff, hearing staff and NUWODU Deaf beneficiaries to understand what is being said in the variety of situations at the office and in the field.
• Ensure a conducive environment for interpretation services while transacting NUWODU activities.
• Assist NUWODU Deaf staff while making telephone calls in relationship to NUWODU work
• Assist NUWODU staff with any added responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications
• The applicant should be fluent in the local language ofmthe district.
• Diploma holder in Sign Language Interpretation from a recognised university.
• Experience in serving as a Sign Language Interpreter in an organisation for at least two years.
• Ability to understand at least three major spoken languages including English.
• Background to social work, development work or program work will be an added advantage.
