Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Security Manager located in Hoima. The Site Security Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all security operations to ensure the safety and security of company assets, personnel, and facilities. Key duties include developing and implementing security policies, conducting risk assessments, managing security personnel, and coordinating with local authorities to prevent and respond to security incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
The Site Security Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Guard Force Supervision: Oversee daily deployment, discipline, and performance of guards assigned to protect contractors’ equipment, personnel, and pipeline construction sites.
- Operational Management: Ensure guard posts are manned as per contract requirements and shift rosters are adhered to.
- Incident Response: Act as the first point of contact for security incidents; coordinate immediate response, reporting, and escalation to project management and relevant authorities.
- Liaison: Maintain close coordination with contractors, site management, and consortium leadership to ensure smooth operations and address emerging security concerns.
- Compliance: Enforce adherence to company SOPs, EACOP security protocols, VPSHR, and ICoCA standards.
- Logistics & Welfare: Monitor guard accommodation, feeding, and welfare to maintain operational readiness and morale.
- Reporting: Provide daily and weekly security reports covering incidents, guard performance, risks, and recommendations.
- Risk Management: Identify vulnerabilities at construction sites and recommend mitigation measures to safeguard assets and personnel.
- Training & Development: Conduct refresher training and on-the-job mentoring to ensure guards remain alert, professional, and effective.
- Asset Protection: Ensure strict control of access points, patrols, and surveillance to deter theft, sabotage, or interference with construction activities.
Essential Skills & Training (must-have)
- Experience supervising security guards on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to manage incidents, write reports, and make decisions under pressure.
- Good communication in English (spoken and written).
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic First Aid and Fire Safety training.
Preferred Skills (advantageous)
- Previous work in oil & gas, pipeline, or major construction security.
- Familiarity with Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights (VPSHR).
- Experience working with local communities and handling conflicts calmly.
- Awareness of HSE practices and working with site safety teams.
- Ability to write duty rosters and maintain records.
Additional Training (valued but not required)
- Training in security risk assessments or incident response.
- Leadership or supervisory training.
Experience Required:
- At least 5–7 years of experience in security management, preferably within the oil & gas, construction, or Mining sector.
- Proven experience leading guard forces in remote/field environments.
- Strong background in incident management, risk assessment, and reporting.
