Description
Supply Chain Officer
Rainbow Uganda Subsidiary • Kampala
Reports to: Country Head
Job Purpose – Plan and run procurement, warehousing, logistics and imports so products reach customers safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
• KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse – run daily warehouse operations, reconcile system, book and physical inventory, and manage batch control, expired and slow-moving stock, safety and regulatory compliance.
Distribution – plan and track deliveries, create and monitor Delivery Notes and PODs, manage transport providers, and control logistics cost, lead time and delivery issues.
Fleet – manage vehicle usage, maintenance, fuel and insurance records, control operating costs, ensure driver compliance, and follow up accidents and incidents.
Procurement-execute local procurement against validated demand and inventory needs, manage supplier sourcing and quotations, follow up orders and quality, and control costs.
Imports & clearance – manage imports from HQ and suppliers, verify documentation, coordinate clearance and inland transport to the warehouse, ensuring compliance and controlling costs.
Planning & S&OP – consolidate monthly sales forecasts with Sales, run the S&OP cycle with Marketing and Finance, keep SAP data audit-ready, and report supply chain KPIs for improvement.
– QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or Industrial Engineering; S&OP, procurement or logistics certification is a plus.
Experience – 4-6 years in supply chain planning, procurement, logistics or imports, ideally in agrochemicals, chemicals or FMCG, with Ugandan logistics and customs exposure
Language – Good written and verbal English (intermediate or above) for daily operations, business emails and documentation.
Technical – Demand planning and S&OP, procurement, inventory control, warehouse and distribution management, import/export compliance, SAP and Excel reporting.
• Core – Strong planning, execution and problem-solving; detail-driven and process-disciplined; proactive owner; good cross-team communicator and supplier negotiator.
