The Talent Acquisition & HR Development Assistant actively accelerates Lapaire's growth in Uganda by supporting high-volume recruitment, building solid candidate pipelines, and coordinating internal training logistics. This junior role ensures an excellent candidate experience and helps organize performance and development inputs to scale up team capabilities.
Responsibilities or duties
Talent Sourcing & Acquisition
- Actively map local talent pools, build databases of qualified candidates, and manage proactive reach-outs to shorten vacancy time-to-fill.
- Draft and post vacancies, manage candidate tracking boards (JazzHR), and actively source talents.
- Conduct initial CV sorting, preliminary phone screenings, and first-round filters for high-volume roles (such as Sales Representatives or branch personnel).
- Coordinate physical and virtual interview schedules, panels, and feedback loop for hiring managers.
- Ensure a seamless onboarding process for new employees, promoting Lapaire’s values and culture
Performance Management & Support
- Supervise the probation review processes by tracking and gathering review files from managers
- Address performance issues and provide guidance to managers and employees (one on one discussions, PIP, training etc.).
- Manage the bi-annual performance evaluation cycles
- Clean, aggregate, and organize performance appraisal inputs before passing summaries to leadership.
- Collect and analyze training needs, set up training priorities in collaboration with local management teams & HR Ops Excellence team
- Provide regular reports and insights to the HR Director on HR metrics and trends..
Development of the Employer Branding & Enforcement of employee engagement initiatives
- Handle relationships with partnering schools & universities, including participating to events where Lapaire is involved
- Develop Employer Brand on the ground (job fairs, Lapaire open days, Lapaire Optom week), but also supporting the Linkedin contents.
- Assessment of employees engagement and satisfaction through E-NPS survey and other means
- Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Educational Background & Experience :
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Psychology, or related field.
- 2-3 years experience in HR development and/or talent acquisition in corporate or HR agency.
Technical Skills :
- Well-versed in using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and job boards (LinkedIn, JazzHR).
- Proficient in Google Suite apps (Docs, Forms, Sheets).
Profile
- Energetic, dynamic, and fast-moving.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Solution-oriented with an inquisitive mind.
- Persistent, with great organizational and tracking habits.
