Treasury is the financial heartbeat and a major profit center of the Bank. The Treasury Sales Officer will therefore contribute to the profitable operations of the department by providing new FX client leads, create sales strategies, as well as building a sustainable treasury customer base that will help achieve set personal and department profit targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and growing a sustainable FX customer base for the bank.
  • General understanding of Government securities to actively market and sell them.
  • Ensuring daily set personal profit targets and cumulative monthly FX targets are achieved.
  • Cross selling of other bank products that will contribute to the overall growth of the banks’ balance sheet.
  • Quoting rates to the DTB Uganda branches for amounts more than the counter limit and taking acceptable margins.
  • Servicing currency requirements for DTB Uganda Corporate & Retail clients who call in from time to time.
  • Drawing practical treasury sales strategies, to guide the rest of the team in achieving overall department goals.
  • Gathering and disseminating of market intelligence to help the treasury team in maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

  • Customer growth (%)
  • Market growth (Volume)
  • Regular market analysis and evaluation
  • Provide regular customer feedback
  • Internal communications

Important relationships

Job is both internally and externally focussed, requiring that the individual be highly adaptable in terms of personal style and the development of business knowledge related to banking.

The job requires relationships be built across the organisation at senior level.

The jobholder will develop and nurture an external network of relationships.

The incumbent will have supervisory responsibility with respect to the outward clearing unit.

Appropriate regional and cross-country forums will require participation to ensure. teambuilding and sharing of best practice across the organisation.

Knowledge, experience and personal competencies

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional banking qualification.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Professional ACI dealing certificate is a must.
  • Fair knowledge of Banking products.
  • Computer Literate.

Experience

  • Two years progressive experience in a similar position.
  • A thorough understanding of the local financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange markets.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to make speedy and accurate decisions under pressure.

Personal competencies

  • A structured approach to dealing with complex and variable work environments in an independent manner.
  • Ability to balance opposing business requirements.
  • Ability to balance long-term and short-term requirements independently.
  • Strong evaluation, communication and reporting skills.
  • Able to provide advice and cause/effect evaluation to support business decision-making.
  • Independent and logical thinker, yet an achiever and implementer.
  • Leads by example.
  • Good at managing large volumes of information and can add value through management reporting.
  • Builds relationships and networks easily.
  • Has a strong service ethic.
