Background

Wagagai Mining (U) Ltd ("WGG") is Uganda's first fully automated large-scale gold mining enterprise, located in Busia. The Company operates a 5,000-tonne-per-day concentrator, a 350-tonne-per-day cyanidation plant, a fully automated underground mine, and a gold smelting and refining workshop. To meet production development needs, WGG now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following key technical positions:

Job Summary

Operate full-hydraulic tunnel drills (underground exploration core drills) in mine audits to carry out in-stope exploration, advance water probing and geological structure detection through horizontal, vertical and inclined drilling, providing direct geological data for mining design and production decisions.

Key Duties

• Operate full-hydraulic tunnel drills for horizontal, vertical and inclined drilling;
• Strictly control core recovery and drilling quality;
• Advance-probe orebody boundaries, fractured zones and concealed water-bearing structures;
• Manage drilling parameters such as bit pressure and rotation speed;
• Handle stuck pipe, hole collapse and other downhole incidents;
• Perform routine drill maintenance and troubleshooting;
• Strictly comply with confined space safety regulations;
• Accurately complete drilling records and core logging.

Requirements

• Technical secondary school or above, drilling engineering/geological exploration preferred;
• 3+ years of underground drilling experience in metal mines;
• Familiar with tunnel drill operation and horizontal/inclined drilling techniques;
• Knowledge of confined space safety procedures;
• Physically fit and able to work in hot, humid underground conditions;
• Mine special operation certificate preferred.
