Background

Wagagai Mining (U) Ltd ("WGG") is Uganda's first fully automated large-scale gold mining enterprise, located in Busia. The Company operates a 5,000-tonne-per-day concentrator, a 350-tonne-per-day cyanidation plant, a fully automated underground mine, and a gold smelting and refining workshop. To meet production development needs, WGG now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following key technical positions:

Job Summary

Responsible for systematic training and skills transfer to local tunnel drill operators, preparing training materials and standard operating procedures, and building local Ugandan underground drilling expertise.

Key Duties

• Prepare tunnel drill operation training syllabi, materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs);
• systematically train in drill operation, multi-angle drilling techniques, core recovery and downhole incident handling;
• teach underground drilling safety and confined space procedures;
• conduct classroom theory and underground on-site practical mentoring;
• establish trainee skills assessment and certification systems;
• mentor local operators and track their skills development.

Requirements

• Diploma or above in drilling engineering/geological exploration/mining engineering;
• 5+ years of tunnel drill operation and management;
• teaching or mentoring ability with capacity to develop training materials independently;
• familiar with underground drilling safety regulations and mine safety management;
• mine special operation certificate and training qualification preferred;
• strong communication skills;
• able to work overseas and underground.
