The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) was established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2003 (Cap 197 of the Laws of Uganda) as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publicly funded agricultural research in Uganda. The Organisation is made up of a Council as its governing Body, a Secretariat for its daily operations, and 16 Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARIs) under its policy guidance. To achieve NARO’s goal of increasing total factor productivity and access to agricultural research products and services for inclusive growth, NARO invites suitably qualified Ugandans to apply for the following position.

Job Purpose: To provide guidance on legal matters of interest and concern to the organization, related to its objectives and functions. The SLO shall also be responsible for assisting the Principal Legal Officer with the timely provision of advice, opinions and provide legal support to the various units within the Organisation on land, labor and employment matters and general administrative matters.
a. Possess a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from a recognized University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
b. Applicants MUST hold a valid practicing certificate (2025).
c. At least four years’ experience of legal practice in a reputable organisation or firm.
d. Knowledge of relevant national, regional and internal legal frameworks.
e. Basic computer skills – Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
Tenure: The tenure of office is a 5-year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance.
