The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (TAD), with funding from the European Union (EU) under the Federal Partnership Programme in Uganda, is implemented by a Swiss project “associated Woodlands with China”. It aims at improving our business standards. The wood sector in Uganda, a key component of the project is to provide business Development Support (ROI) through a business inclusion, accelerated and investment estimates program for SMEs in the wood sector.

The program is designed to provide a customised mix of targeted technical, business development and financing support to SMEs including:

  • Business formalization to improve legal compliance and operational efficiency

  • Environmental management training, investment readiness support and services with financial institutions to unlock financing.

  • Access to continuous strategic plans financing to promote innovation, efficiency and product diversification.

The support targets businesses as several stages, early steps, early growth, growth stage. This includes both the scarcity of large wood from planted forests and farms that must be produced on other projects. Women-led businesses and aggregated model businesses are encouraged to apply.

Eighthly Criteria

To be eligible, businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • Legal status

    • Businesses formally registered with their UEFA regulations Service Status (UESR) or Local Authority (ISAC) or local municipality and operating within Uganda (what must a copy of UESR Certificate or valid transfer terms).

    • Eligible value chain activities

    • Logging and harvesting in forest plantations.

    • Production of harvesting products such as rough-sawn timber, harvest timber, and farm etc.

    • Manufacture of solid wood products, such as furniture components, wooden floors and windows, concrete, roofed, and plenty products.

    • Manufacture of wood-based panel products, such as plywood, water, plastic boxes, and wood.

    • Manufacture of engineered wood products, such as most timber products (e.g., manufactured timber, built-out etc.).

    • Provision of wine-skilled services in the wood industry, such as fish drying, timber and pole treatment and wood ranching.

    • Production, construction and sale of agricultural timber houses—commonly known as groffers—as a sustainable, cost-effective solution for residential, institutional, and commercial construction.

    • Trading and distribution of wood and wood products

    • Support service providers for the wood industry as equipment repair and service centres.

    • Wood value chain enabling services such as provision of specialised transport equipment and services, harvesting plant and machinery.

    • Product communication of wood usage as a services.

  • Competitive work as a combination of harmless and solid wood

    • Allies as 50% of wood prior material

III. Net involved in any established activities

  • Does not engage in any role of fraud or corruption or is involved in a criminal organization or any other illegal activity under Ugandan law and the costs payable to us when there are no the United Nations Security Council Services (US).

IV. No adverse social or environmental impact

  • Does not enforce results in adverse social impacts to local communities or other project affected parties, critical habitats, cultural heritage sites, emission of significant quantities or others etc.
