CALL FOR PAPERS

THEME: "Advancing Competence-Based Education and Training in Higher Education for National Transformation"

The Uganda Higher Education Review Journal (UHERJ) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published bi-annually by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), under ISSN 1813-2243 (Print), ISSN 2958-5473 (Online), DOI: https://doi.org/10.58653.

UHERJ invites scholars, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to submit original abstracts for consideration in the Uganda Higher Education Review Journal, Volume 14, Issue 1 (November 2026).

This issue focuses on advancing knowledge and practice in competence-based higher education and training, with particular emphasis on the following thematic areas:

i. Innovative Pedagogies for Competence-Based Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
ii. Quality Assurance, Assessment, and Evaluation in Competence-Based Higher Education
iii. Industry-Higher Education Partnerships and Work-Integrated Learning
iv. Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Emerging Technologies in Competence-Based Higher Education and Training
v. All submissions will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process and editorial evaluation based on originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the thematic focus of this issue. Only abstracts meeting the required scholarly standards will be accepted for full paper submission.

Submission Guidelines

Authors should prepare abstracts in accordance with the UHERJ Author Guidelines available at:
https://journal.unchec.org. Submitted abstracts must:
i. Be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
ii. Demonstrate relevance to the call for paper theme or sub-themes.
iii. Follow accepted academic and ethical standards.
iv. Be written in clear and concise English.

Important Dates

I. Abstract submission deadline: 31st July 2026
ii. Notification of abstract review outcomes: 10th August 2026
iii. Full paper submission: 24th August 2026
iv. Publication date: November 2026
