Job Summary:

Our client, a leading social enterprise dedicated to transforming Uganda's cocoa industry, is seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Certification & Compliance Officer to drive compliance with internationally recognized certification standards in Bundibugyo. This role is critical in coordinating audits, strengthening quality systems, and ensuring sustainable and traceable cocoa production.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive compliance with internationally recognized certification standards (e.g., UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic).
  • Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits.
  • Strengthen and maintain quality management systems.
  • Ensure traceability and transparency across the cocoa supply chain.
  • Train and support farmers and field staff on certification requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental, social, and economic sustainability criteria.
  • Prepare and submit certification reports and documentation.
  • Identify gaps and implement corrective actions to maintain certification status.
  • Collaborate with certification bodies, auditors, and stakeholders.

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Environmental Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in quality management, auditing, or sustainability standards is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in certification, compliance, quality assurance, or food production.
  • Strong knowledge of international certification schemes (e.g., UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic).
  • Experience coordinating audits and working with certification bodies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and training abilities.
  • Ability to work in remote, rural settings and engage with farming communities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data management tools.
