Reports To: Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Purpose
To support the planning, design review, implementation, and monitoring of all electrical and electrification works for the SGR Project, ensuring compliance with Employer’s Requirements, regulatory standards, and best engineering practices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Employer’s technical oversight of electrification works including traction power substations (TPS), overhead contact systems (OCS), and line-side MV/LV supplies under the supervision of the Senior Electrical Engineer.
- Review contractor submittals (drawings, ITPs/WIRs, RAMS, and material specifications) for compliance with contract requirements, consolidating technical comments through the Consultant.
- Assist in coordination of the high-voltage grid interface with UETCL/ERA, including applications, study inputs, outage planning, metering and settlement data, and energisation procedures.
- Conduct or witness inspections and tests (FAT/SAT, functional and dynamic testing); verify measurements and compile acceptance documentation.
- Track contractor compliance with inspection and test plans (ITPs); log and follow up non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch lists, and as-built documentation to ensure timely closure.
- Support permitting, ESIA/RAP inputs, and acquisition of wayleaves for power extensions; liaise with utilities and local authorities to secure approvals and site access.
- Maintain Interface Control Documents (ICD) and change registers; coordinate electrical interfaces with Signalling & Telecoms, Civil, and Rolling Stock teams and report potential risks or impacts.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and updates on progress, quality, HSSE, schedule, and risks; support claims and variation prevention through accurate recordkeeping.
- Maintain document control and update the Common Data Environment (CDE), Building Information Model (BIM), and GIS databases for electrical assets; compile O&M manuals and spares lists.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned, including compliance with security and safety protocols for restricted corridors and classified information.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university.
Experience
- Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience in electrical design, construction supervision, or related engineering assignments.
- At least two (2) years of experience in high-voltage or medium-voltage distribution and/or traction power systems is an added advantage.
- Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) (Graduate or Registered) or demonstrable progress toward registration is required.

- Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience in electrical design, construction supervision, or related engineering assignments.
- At least two (2) years of experience in high-voltage or medium-voltage distribution and/or traction power systems is an added advantage.
- Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) (Graduate or Registered) or demonstrable progress toward registration is required.
- Experience with design review and site supervision under design-build or FIDIC Silver Book arrangements, including familiarity with ITPs/WIRs, RAMS, and QA/QC documentation.
- Working knowledge of SCADA, protection and control systems, and proficiency in ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD/BIM, and MS Office applications; knowledge of Primavera P6 or MS Project is desirable.
