Job Description

Supports routine maintenance of factory electrical equipment under appropriate technical supervision. Contributes to operational reliability by inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting factory electrical systems and components safely.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical panels, motors, cables, switches, sensors, control boxes, lighting systems, circuit breakers, contactors, and overload devices for obvious defects.
• Replace authorized fuses, switches, indicator lamps, sensors, and terminals strictly after circuits have been safely isolated.
• Operate basic electrical measuring instruments under supervision, including multimeters, clamp meters, continuity testers, and insulation testing devices where trained.
• Assist with troubleshooting machine stoppages to identify faults linked to power supplies, loose connections, failed sensors, motor overloads, or damaged cables.
• Apply mandatory Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to safely isolate electrical energy sources and prevent unauthorized re energization prior to maintenance.
• Support the installation of cables, conduits, lighting fixtures, and control components in compliance with drawings or technical instructions.
• Maintain electrical panels to ensure they remain clean, closed, labelled, and protected from water, dust, unauthorized access, and unsafe temporary wiring.
• Record maintenance activities, identified faults, replaced components, and technical measurements as required.
• Assist with diagnosing PLCs, variable frequency drives, and automation systems without modifying programming or critical parameters without authorization.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical maintenance personnel to resolve faults involving both electrical and mechanical systems.

Skills

• Strict adherence to electrical safety, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and proper electrical PPE usage.
• Disciplined troubleshooting of power supplies, wiring, sensors, and motor overloads within authorization limits.
• Safe operation of basic electrical test instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, and continuity testers.
• Foundational understanding of single phase and three phase AC systems, motors, control components, and circuit protection devices.
• Technical aptitude in reading electrical drawings and supporting cable, conduit, and component installations.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Electronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, Instrumentation, or related electrical trades.
• National Certificate, Craft Certificate, Trade Test, technical/vocational electrical qualification, or recognized apprenticeship in an electrical discipline.
• UCE or UACE alone qualifies for trainee entry provided the employee receives formal electrical training before performing electrical work.
• Must hold or obtain any statutory electrical installation permit or professional authorization required for independent work.

• No prior work experience required.
