About This Job:

Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

On behalf of our client SINOPEC, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Electrical technician to work on site.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Install and set up telecom equipment such as fiber-optic networks, CCTV, ACS, PAGA, antennas, base stations, and microwave systems.
• Configure VoIP systems, PBX (Private Branch Exchange), radio systems, and satellite communication links.
• Perform signal testing (e.g., bit error rate, latency, jitter) to ensure network performance meets specifications.
• Validate fiber-optic cable integrity using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and power meters.
• Test wireless systems (cellular, Wi-Fi, RF) for coverage, signal strength, and interference.
• Integrate telecom systems with control networks (ICSS, DCS) and IT infrastructure.
• Verify interoperability between telecom devices and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SIP, MPLS, 5G NR).
• Diagnose and resolve issues with network connectivity, bandwidth limitations, or hardware failures.
• Address electromagnetic interference (EMI), grounding problems, or cable faults.
• Maintain records of test results, network diagrams, and equipment configurations.

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience required:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oil & gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), Telecommunications service providers, Data centers and cloud infrastructure, or other similar projects.
• Proficiency in telecom technologies: fiber optics, IP networking, RF/wireless systems, cellular networks (4G/5G), and satellite communications.
• Knowledge of telecom protocols (e.g., VoIP, SIP, SNMP) and network security practices.
• Safety certifications (OSHA 30, RF Safety Training).
• Other Certifications will be a plus.
