Overview:
Busitema University is in receipt of EDCTP || funding to train Fellows in Infectious Disease Field Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Uganda. This is in conjunction with Partner institutions in the IDEA Fellowship Programme Consortium including Mbale Clinical Research Institute, Infectious Disease Institute, Uganda Virus Research Institute, The Open UniversityUK, Uganda National Health Laboratories, and Uganda National Institute of Public Health. Busitema University is implementing work package 5 on training programme.
This is a hands-on field epidemiology training programme aimed at contributing to the building of the requisite capacity for the national response to emerging and re-emerging health challenges in the country. This programme falls within the University's mandate of contributing to the NDP III governed by Uganda's vision 2040.

The overarching objectives of this fellowship programme at Busitema University include:
To develop a critical mass of field epidemiologists with knowledge, skills and competencies in early recognition, surveillance, communication, control, and prevention of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

ALIL
• To support and supplement government efforts within the mandate of the University to develop sustainable capacity in Infectious Disease Field Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Uganda.
The Programme targets highly motivated, early-to-midlevel career African scientists willing to work in Uganda and contribute to the control of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in the country. Successful candidates for the maiden cohort will be sponsored. The duration of this training will be 24 months.
Funding: The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) (CSA2020E-3126) using UK Aid from the UK Government to support global health research, as part of the EDCTP2 Programme supported by the European Union through the European and Developing countries Clinical Trials Partnership
(EDCTP) implementing EDCTP2 awarded a grant to the Coordinator Busitema University and 6 other beneficiaries for the action entitled "Consortium for Development of Sustainable Research Based Fellowship Training on Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Africa - IDEA Fellowship.

A1 paged (or 500 word) typed motivation Statement • Certified copies of academic testimonials
Two recommendation letters (employed applicants should include one recommendation from the current employer). A 2 paged CV organised into social demographic info, personal statement, academic history, employment history, Research experience and a summary statement of the previous Masters dissertation/thesis.
