Job Purpose

The Laboratory Assistant will perform routine clinical laboratory testing, process medical specimens, and maintain diagnostic equipment to support the clinic's medical team in accurate disease diagnosis and patient management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect patient specimens (including blood, urine, and stool samples) following strict infection control guidelines.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests (such as malaria RDTs, complete blood counts, urinalysis, and rapid diagnostics) accurately.
  • Record, track, and dispatch laboratory results to clinicians in a timely manner while ensuring strict data privacy.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments, reagents, and workstations.
  • Manage medical waste disposal protocols within the laboratory unit.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of a Certificate or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques from a recognized institution.
  • Licensing: Must possess an updated, valid registration certificate and practicing license from the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC).
  • Gender: Female (as explicitly specified for operational alignment).
  • Availability: Ready to begin work immediately.

Compensation & Benefits

Monthly Salary: UGX 350,000

Benefits: On-site accommodation and lunch provided daily.
