About the Client
Our client is a growing Ugandan financial services and agency banking business providing agency banking, mobile money, payment, and related financial transaction services. As the business grows, they are seeking a commercially minded Financial Analyst to turn financial and transaction data into insights that support profitability, growth, and better capital allocation decisions.
Job Summary
The Financial Analyst will analyze financial and operational data to help management understand business performance, identify profitability opportunities, optimize liquidity and capital deployment, and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze revenue, costs, margins and profitability across services, partners and locations.
- Prepare management reports, forecasts and budget-versus-actual analysis, highlighting key variances and their drivers.
- Analyze transaction volumes, commissions and margins to identify profitable and underperforming services.
- Monitor float utilization, working capital and liquidity, and support efficient allocation of capital.
- Develop financial models, forecasts, break-even analyses, ROI calculations and scenario/sensitivity analyses.
- Assess the financial viability of new locations, products, partnerships and other business investments.
- Analyze partner and branch/location profitability and identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization.
- Monitor revenue assurance, commissions receivable and financial discrepancies to identify potential revenue leakage.
- Develop and maintain management dashboards providing clear visibility of key financial and commercial performance indicators.
- Provide practical recommendations to management based on financial and business analysis.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, Commerce or another numerically focused discipline.
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, commercial finance, treasury, investment analysis, revenue assurance, financial operations or a related field.
- Experience in fintech, banking, payments, mobile money, financial services, telecoms or another transaction-driven environment is an advantage.
- ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CFA or a similar professional qualification completed or in progress is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, data analysis and financial modelling.
- Ability to work with large datasets and translate data into meaningful business insights.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence/data visualization tools is an advantage.
