Job Description

Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems across the facility, including lighting, wiring control boxes, and electric motors to support reliable plant operations. Respond rapidly to electrical line trips and equipment faults, diagnosing root causes to ensure safe, dependable return to service without avoidable downtime. Promote operational safety and equipment longevity through strict isolation controls, planned preventive maintenance, and precise technical record keeping.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Install light fittings, wire control boxes, and fit circuit breakers following wiring schematics and approved operating procedures.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electric motors, performing motor rewinding checks and verifying connections before returning them to service.
• Respond promptly to electrical line trips and machine stoppages, diagnosing underlying causes rather than implementing temporary restarts.
• Enforce rigorous safe work controls, including verifying electrical isolation, testing before touch, and ensuring safety interlocks are never bypassed without approval.
• Coordinate with production staff prior to taking equipment offline and clearly communicate once machines are safe to energize and hand over.
• Carry out planned preventive and predictive maintenance inspections, tracking abnormal temperature, vibration, loose connections, or repeated trip patterns.
• Log accurate, legible, and traceable records of maintenance activities, test readings, shift handovers, and equipment histories.
• Identify required spare parts, tools, access needs, and shutdown requirements in advance to support planned maintenance workflows.

Skills

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Automation and Control, Instrumentation, Plant Maintenance, or a closely related technical field.
• Craft Certificate, National Certificate, trade certificate, or recognized TVET/UBTEB apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related industrial trades.
• Class B or Class A Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) installation permit is required.

Experience

• 2+ years of experience as a factory electrician.
