The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
UEDCL is seeking to recruit qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fill the following positions;
The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of inventory planning, systems compliance monitoring, and inventory performance analytics across all warehouses. The role supports inbound scheduling from suppliers, outbound scheduling to regional stores, and monitors customer service levels, system usage, and inventory performance. The Inventory Coordinator works closely with the Senior Inventory Officer to ensure smooth inventory operations and compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities or duties
Inventory Analytics & Reporting
- Design and implement Power BI dashboards to support management decision-making on inventory performance.
- Deliver advanced analytics on stock levels, movement trends, consumption patterns, and demand variances.
- Translate complex inventory data into clear, actionable insights for management.
Inbound & Outbound Scheduling
- Coordinate the scheduling of incoming materials from suppliers to the central store.
- Plan and schedule outbound distribution of materials from the central store to regional stores across the country.
- Monitor and track materials movements to ensure adherence to inbound and outbound schedules.
- Identify and escalate scheduling gaps or delays to the Inventory Senior Officer.
Compliance Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct regular compliance reviews across all warehouses covering policy and procedure adherence.
- Monitor system adherence and ensure correct usage of the SAP system for all inventory transactions.
- Review Bill of Materials (BOM) compliance and escalate deviations appropriately.
- Monitor and review customer service levels for each warehouse and report on performance.
- Prepare and submit regular compliance reports covering policy, procedure, system, and BOM compliance findings.
- Conduct snap checks on inventory to confirm stock accuracy and identify variances.
Performance Reporting
- Prepare and submit regular inventory performance reports to the Inventory Senior Officer.
- Track and report on key inventory performance indicators across all store locations.
- Identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions to improve inventory operations.
Inventory Improvement Initiatives
- Lead the identification of process gaps and inefficiencies across inventory and stores operations.
- Design, recommend, and support the implementation of inventory improvement initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of inventory improvement systems and tools.
- Evaluate and recommend new sources of value and efficiency across inventory management operations.
Third-Party Operations Coordination
- Coordinate third-party operations including activities managed by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
- Manage coordination and reconciliation of materials received from various funders and donors.
- Ensure accurate documentation and recording of third-party and funder-funded materials in the SAP system.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve discrepancies in third-party and donor-funded materials.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Engage and coordinate with cross-functional teams on inventory-related activities, demand reviews, and consumption monitoring.
- Liaise with user departments, procurement, warehouse teams, and the transport department to ensure alignment on inventory activities.
- Participate in demand and consumption review meetings and provide relevant data and analysis.
- Coordinate with Contract respective contract managers for prompt delivery of requisite materials.
Any Other Duties
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Inventory Senior Officer or Head of Inventory and Stores.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
- Membership of an accredited professional supply chain management body (e.g., CIPS, CILT, or CPA) is desired.
Experience needed
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar inventory coordination, materials planning, or supply chain analytics role.
- Experience in the energy distribution sector is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise resource planning systems, specifically SAP.
Key Competencies
- Advanced Power BI skills with demonstrated ability to design and implement inventory dashboards and performance visualizations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency for data analysis, modelling, and reporting.
- SAP proficiency with working knowledge of inventory and materials management modules.
- Strong data analytics and interpretation skills with ability to extract insights from complex data sets.
- Good understanding of inventory and supply chain management principles.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks, BOM processes, and internal controls.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to management.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and functional areas.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
