IT SUPERVISOR

Job Title: IT Supervisor

1. JOB PURPOSE

The IT Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the day-to-day IT operations of the Kapeeka factory, ensuring reliable, secure and efficient IT infrastructure and services to support factory operations, administration, warehouse, production, finance, HR and other business functions.

The role will supervise local IT support activities, manage hardware and network infrastructure, troubleshoot technical issues, maintain IT systems and coordinate with the central IT team and external service providers to ensure uninterrupted business operations.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. IT Infrastructure & Network Management

  • Supervise the installation, configuration and maintenance of the site’s IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, firewalls and network equipment.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Ensure reliable internet connectivity across offices, warehouse and factory areas.
  • Support network expansion as new production and operational areas are commissioned.
  • Coordinate with internet service providers and other technology vendors.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, equipment records and configuration documentation.

B. Hardware & User Support

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to employees at the factory.
  • Install, configure and maintain:
    • Desktop computers
    • Laptops
    • Printers and scanners
    • Network devices
    • Servers and related IT equipment
    • Other IT peripherals.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Manage IT equipment allocation, replacement and maintenance.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of IT assets.
  • Ensure IT equipment is properly configured and secured before being issued to users.

C. Systems & Application Support

  • Support users with company ERP and other business applications.
  • Provide first-level technical support for SAP/ERP-related user access and system issues, where applicable.
  • Coordinate with system administrators or central IT for issues requiring escalation.
  • Support factory-related digital systems and applications.
  • Assist in testing and implementation of new IT systems and applications.
  • Ensure users have appropriate system access based on their roles and authorization.

D. IT Security & Access Management

  • Implement and monitor basic IT security controls at the factory.
  • Manage user accounts, passwords and access rights in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure computers and systems are protected against malware and other security threats.
  • Monitor unauthorized access attempts and report security incidents.
  • Ensure regular antivirus, operating system and security updates.
  • Support implementation of company cybersecurity policies.
  • Conduct basic user awareness on cybersecurity, password security, phishing and responsible use of IT resources.
  • Escalate suspected cybersecurity incidents promptly to the IT Manager.

E. CCTV, Access Control & Security Technology Support

  • Provide technical support for CCTV, access-control systems and other security-related technology.
  • Monitor the operational status of CCTV and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with security personnel and external vendors when technical issues arise.
  • Maintain proper records of security-system equipment and maintenance.
  • Support installation and commissioning of additional surveillance and access-control equipment as the factory expands.

3. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional IT certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA, Microsoft, Fortinet, Cisco or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, networking and IT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and common business applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of CCTV, access control and other security systems is an added advantage.

4. EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years of relevant IT experience, preferably in a manufacturing, factory, warehouse, logistics or other industrial environment.
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity is preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple departments/users within a busy operational environment.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining networks and IT infrastructure.
  • Experience working with external IT vendors and service providers.

5. REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi configuration and troubleshooting.
  • TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and basic network administration.
  • Router, switch and firewall administration.
  • Windows desktop and server support.
