Background

Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.

Responsibilities

Test and monitor inline metal detectors and foreign object inspection systems on packaging conveyors to uphold food safety and quality standards. Operate inspection machinery within approved parameters, conducting continuous checks to detect, isolate, and contain contaminated or non conforming products. Maintain accurate compliance documentation and collaborate with cross functional teams to prevent downstream defects and processing delays.

Qualifications

Ordinary Diploma or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Food Science, Food Processing, Production Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, Applied Sciences, Printing Technology, or related technical disciplines. National Certificate, Craft Certificate, Technical Trade Certificate, or TVET qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Trades, Food Science, or closely related technical areas. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for inspection and packing tasks, supported by basic literacy, numeracy, and completion of company training.

Experience

No prior work experience required. Includes 2 weeks CCP calibration training.

• Operate metal detector and foreign object inspection equipment in accordance with approved start up, running, changeover, and shutdown procedures.
• Perform critical control point (CCP) testing, challenge test verifications, and reject mechanism checks across packaging conveyors.
• Inspect product flow for visual, packaging, weight, seal, and contamination defects, halting or isolating affected units immediately.
• Make authorized operational adjustments within defined limits and request technical support when specialist maintenance is required.
• Segregate and quarantine non compliant materials promptly to prevent further processing or accidental shipment.
• Execute cleaning, sanitation, product change, and allergen control protocols, verifying the total removal of prior residues, labels, and codes.
• Record test results, process deviations, checklists, and inspection logs legibly and truthfully at the time checks are performed.
• Coordinate with production and quality team members to communicate operational handovers and line issues without delay.
• Escalate suspected product contamination, severe safety hazards, or machine malfunctions immediately through designated reporting channels.
