Background
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
Job Purpose
To execute all metering related day to day technical activities like meter testing, programming and troubleshooting as per the set procedures and policy guidelines, conduct metering related investigations, Innovations to solve metering related problems and develop/review of metering specifications
Key Responsibilities
- Acceptance and routine testing of meters and metering units, programming of new and in-service domestic, TOU, KVA-LV and HT meters as per testing plan and procedures.
- Provide technical test results in form of a report for all tests carried out in the workshop.
- Provide legal support pertaining meter test lab activities through ownership of test results.
- Ensure all meter testing activities are conducted in a safe environment.
- Utilize appropriate methods and procedures for testing and programming of three phase meters and related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.
- Enforcement of metering related standards through field staff trainings.
- Verify data for all meters returned by the field teams and ensure they are disposed of in accordance with the meter disposal process.
- Provide general support duties in the section including general tidiness of the workshop, documentation, storage and accountability for equipment and materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time for the company.
Person Specifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution.
Experience
- At least two (2) year's post qualification in Metering operations
- Ability to work confidently with MS Office packages and systems
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent Communication (oral and written) Skills,
Competencies
- Integrity.
- Tight personal organization and processes control abilities.
- Team work.
- Communication abilities for presenting results, plans and strategies, as well as periodic reporting of performance.
- Self-starter and motivated.
- Results oriented.
- Time management.
