Background
Savimaxx Limited Uganda is a multi-disciplinary professional consulting firm with demonstratable experience in successful management and implementation of projects. We have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) for an upcoming consultancy assignment for services for a macroeconomic study for a petrochemical-based Industrial Park.
Responsibilities
The main task of the Petrochemical Engineer/Consultant is to primarily provide technical and process expertise to inform the economic analysis of the petrochemical industrial park on the national and regional economies. The Petrochemical Engineer/Consultant should also be able to provide critical insights that will guide policy formulation, investment decisions and operational strategies for the industrial park. The Consultant must provide data for cost analysis, including capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx), which are crucial inputs for the overall financial and economic models. Assessing the project's impact on key macroeconomic indicators by quantifying direct, indirect, and induced effects on employment, GDP, household income, and capital formation. The Petrochemical Engineer/Consultant must contribute to a comprehensive risk assessment of the industrial park by identifying technical and operational risks (e.g., equipment failures, process complexities, supply chain disruptions).
Qualifications and Requirements
We are looking for a short-term independent Petrochemical Engineer/Consultant with a Ph. D and at least five years’ experience or Master’s Degree with at least 10 years experience in undertaking macroeconomic studies for the establishment of greenfield petrochemical based industrial parks in sub-saharan Africa. It is envisaged that the park will have a refinery, fertilizer plant, polymer plant, synthetic fibre plant, methanol production, plastics plant, pharmaceuticals etc. The park will be situated on 29 km 2 of land. Additionally, it will have support infrastructure like a water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, electric power plant, storage tanks, a residential housing estate zone, warehouses, an international airport, upstream crude oil export hub, access roads and a Free Trade Zone.
S/he must a registered engineer and a member of a competent professional institution/association. S/he must have very strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities to work in a multi-disciplinary team and be ready to work in a diverse multicultural environment. Must have very good writing skills, editing of thematic reports, presentations skills and reporting skills. Must be fluent in oral, listening and written English.
