Background

The Solar Electric Cooking (SOLCO) Partnership is a market-driven multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to improve access to clean, sustainable cooking technologies for 150,000 households in Uganda’s refugee settlements. The SOLCO Partnership brings together local, national, and international actors, including private sector players, to ensure the adoption and sustainable use of solar electric and hybrid electric cooking solutions. SOLCO focuses on empowering refugees and host communities through innovative partnerships and a people-centered approach to addressing energy needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities in Kiryandongo, Kyaka II and Rhino Camp refugee settlements.
  • Develop detailed project implementation plans and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure financial accountability in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with national and local district authorities, responsible Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), humanitarian organizations, refugee leadership, and host community representatives.
  • Collaborate with private sector partners to ensure a market-driven approach to solar electric cooking adoption.
  • Represent the SOLCO Partnership program in local, national, and international forums.
  • Facilitate participatory approaches to engage refugees, host communities, and local leaders in project activities.
  • Promote gender-sensitive practices and ensure the inclusion of marginalized groups, particularly women and youth.
  • Organize training, Cooking demonstrations, and awareness sessions to build community capacity for solar cooking technology adoption.
  • Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to track project progress and impact.

Qualifications

  • BSc. in Business Administration, B.Sc. Environment and Energy, or relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of progressive work experience in a similar role and working in the refugee context will be desirable
