Job Summary
The Risk and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the organization’s risk identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting, and management processes. The role ensures the effective implementation of risk management and compliance frameworks to safeguard the organization’s assets, operations, and reputation. He or she will recommend, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of risk mitigation measures to minimize organizational risks and ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulatory and donor requirements, and organizational standards. This includes planning and designing appropriate tools to strategically review and determine risk levels, propose approaches and systems to mitigate risks and effectively track progress in implementing recommendations on risk mitigation. The Risk and Compliance Coordinator will also provide technical advice on risk management and compliance matters, coordinate and ensure that all External and Internal Audit recommendations and agreed corrective actions are implemented within stipulated timelines.
Overall Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Internal Audit in supervising the implementation of this Risk Management Framework and Policy.
- Coordinate the risk management process organization-wide, including consolidating the risk registers of various departments into the Baylor Foundation Uganda register.
- Integrate Entity level Risks into strategic and business planning, as well as provide quarterly risk dashboard to the Director of Internal Audit to be presented to the Board Audit and Risk Committee.
- Implement a robust system to monitor risks and controls.
- Ensure that sufficient processes, skills, and data are in place to support periodic assessment and reporting for disclosures regarding risk and controls.
- Ensure monthly risk register updated for improved organizational resilience.
- Perform compliance reviews
- Conduct follow-up of the resolution of any identified risk findings and make recommendations for amendments where necessary.
- Track the implementation of corrective measures to mitigate the identified risks.
- Submit monthly risk and compliance reports to the Director of Internal Audit highlighting the compliance status of BFU and areas in need of improvement.
- Pro-actively create awareness of the current and future regulatory and legislative developments that may affect BFU’s operations.
Required Qualification.
- Degree in Finance, Business Management or related field with a subject of study in Risk Management.
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. ACCA, CPA, IIA or IRM).
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Audit.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Management or related field is an added advantage.
- Professional certification in Risk Management (e.g., CRMA, IRM, ISO 31000, or equivalent), ACCA, CPA, or CIA.
