Job Description

Monitor semi automated and robotic layer palletizers stacking finished cases and bundles onto wooden pallets to meet packaging schedules.

Ensure end to end line reliability by verifying palletizing quality, load stability, and smooth handoff to warehousing.

Maintain high standards of occupational and food safety, hygiene, and equipment care throughout daily packaging operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Operate semi automated and robotic layer palletizers in line with approved start up, running, changeover, shutdown, and cleaning procedures.

Monitor the automated stacking of finished cases and bundles onto wooden pallets continuously to maintain pattern integrity and layer counts.

Load pallet dispensers and verify that proper pallets, slip sheets, and packaging materials are staged before operation begins.

Perform visual, dimensional, count, alignment, and cleanliness checks at the station, recording data promptly and accurately.

Execute authorized mechanical adjustments within set limits and summon technical maintenance support when specialized intervention is required.

Clean sensors, remove product residues, and maintain station organization during production runs and end of run changeovers.

Identify, segregate, and report packaging and palletizing defects immediately to prevent downstream stoppages or shipment of substandard stock.

Manage emergency stops, lockout or isolation rules, and machine guarding strictly to maintain safe working conditions.

Maintain legible, traceable shift logs, inspection checklists, and machine records to support operational handovers and quality audits.

Skills

Palletizer pattern selection and automated pallet dispenser loading

Sensor cleaning, line inspection, and basic packaging equipment care

Emergency stop safety management and adherence to lockout tagout protocols

PLC and HMI touch screen interface operation and digital record entry

Defect recognition, product containment, and root cause escalation

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

Ordinary Diploma or National Diploma in Electrical, Automation, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Food Processing, Production Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Applied Sciences, Printing Technology, or a related technical discipline

National Certificate, Craft Certificate, Technical Trade Certificate, or relevant TVET training in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related technical trades

Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for candidates demonstrating strong literacy, numeracy, safety awareness, and relevant machine specific training from a recognized employer or equipment supplier

Experience

At least 1 year of experience operating automated material handling equipment.
