Background
Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.
Job Description
Serves in a trainee supervisory capacity under the supervision of experienced quality and sanitation personnel to coordinate routine plant cleaning and hygiene operations. Supports food safety compliance and smooth production schedules by monitoring sanitation cycles, chemical safety, and verification protocols across factory facilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Review cleaning schedules across production floors, food contact equipment, drains, and utility areas to prevent product contamination and avoid production delays.
- Oversee the accurate dilution and handling of detergents and sanitizers strictly following manufacturer and company specifications without estimating.
- Verify proper container labelling and confirm that incompatible chemicals are never mixed.
- Check that cleaning teams adhere to required sequences from dry debris removal and rinsing to chemical application, mechanical cleaning, and sanitizing.
- Observe Clean In Place cycles to track chemical concentration, temperature, and time without executing unauthorized program modifications.
- Assist with hygiene verification tasks including visual checks, environmental swabbing, ATP testing, and reviewing microbiological results.
- Document daily sanitation activities and escalate abnormal verification results, missed tasks, chemical shortages, or damaged equipment.
- Enforce workplace safety by inspecting PPE usage, chemical splash protection, wet floor signage, hose usage, and electrical safety near water.
- Monitor personal hygiene standards among personnel by reporting lapses in handwashing, protective gear, jewellery restrictions, or illness reporting.

- Precise chemical dilution and safe handling
- Hygiene verification methods including swabbing and visual inspection
- Workplace safety, PPE compliance, and chemical hazard controls
- Clear operational communication and accurate record keeping
Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma, or National Diploma in Environmental Health, Public Health, Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Hygiene and Sanitation, Hospitality, Food Production, Quality Management, Environmental Science, or related programs.
- National Certificate, technical certificate, vocational qualification, or recognized training in sanitation or food safety.
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) route.
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for applicants demonstrating literacy sufficient for chemical instructions, documentation, and company training.
Experience
- No prior work experience required.
- No previous sanitation supervision experience is required.
