JOB PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, s/he will support the development, maintenance and implementation of communication systems within and outside BRAC Uganda in line with the organization policies and procedures

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the implementation of the communication strategy to raise the profile of BRAC Uganda

Coordinate information flow and knowledge transfer between various units and programs across BRAC’s entities in Uganda

Implement external communications within and beyond Uganda through newsletters, blogs, newspaper articles, diary and editing all the electronic documents

Organize program events and visits for donors, press and stakeholders

Identify potential areas of interventions in line with the strategic objective and integrated approach of BRAC Uganda

Support the execution of a social media strategy and monitor social media platforms

Maintain a content repository platform via photography, videography and maintain a library system for press archives

Prepare and submit standard monthly reports and other supporting documents to the supervisor and relevant stakeholders

Showcase successes and case studies across the different media channels

Develop high standard communication materials and content in adherence to the branding and style guidelines of BRAC

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in mass communications/ communication management / journalism/ education (literature in English)/ related field. PGD is an added advantage.

2+ years’ experience in communications/ public relations/ media production in reputable NGO

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Interpersonal skills and networking, e.g., with media houses, Proactive and resourceful approach to work, with the ability to anticipate, act decisively and seize opportunities as they develop, Good communication, facilitation and reporting skills, Computer literacy and IT compliance, Online applications ,Adobe suit, Ability to develop a social media calendar, Credibility, good judgement, analytical thinking, trust, integrity and decision making, Team player who thrives in a highly collaborative environment, Multicultural diversity, Ability to withstand pressure, Exemplary leadership, organizing and motivation skills.
