What you will do

Job Summary

We are looking for a strategic and commercially driven Senior Partnerships Manager to lead Fido's partnership strategy and execution in Uganda. This role is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and managing high-impact partnerships that accelerate customer acquisition, product adoption, and revenue growth.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships across financial institutions, fintechs, mobile network operators, merchants, regulators, and other strategic partners while working closely with internal teams to bring new partnership opportunities to market. This is a high-impact role requiring strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, a deep network and an understanding of Uganda's financial services ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and execute Fido's partnership strategy in Uganda, aligned with the company's growth objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and secure strategic partnerships that expand Fido's product distribution, new loan disbursements and market presence.
  • Build a robust pipeline of partnership opportunities across financial services, telecommunications, retail, technology, and other relevant sectors.
  • Lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and contract execution with prospective partners.

Partnership Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with strategic partners to maximize mutual value.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for key accounts and partnership stakeholders.
  • Monitor partnership performance against agreed KPIs and recommend optimization opportunities.

Product & Commercial Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Marketing, Risk, Operations, and Commercial teams to launch and scale partnership-led initiatives.
  • Gather partner and customer insights to inform product enhancements and new product opportunities.
  • Support the successful rollout of new financial products through strategic partner channels.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging partnership opportunities.
  • Analyze industry developments and customer behavior to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations that support commercial and strategic decision-making.

Operational & Stakeholder Management

  • Represent the Managing Director in internal and external meetings when required, providing updates, capturing key decisions, and ensuring timely execution of agreed action items.
  • Represent Fido at industry events, conferences, networking engagements, and strategic meetings.
  • Ensure partnerships operate in compliance with applicable regulatory and contractual requirements.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in partnerships, business development, strategic alliances, fintech, banking, or financial services.
  • Proven track record of building and managing strategic partnerships that deliver measurable business growth.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract management experience.
  • Deep network and understanding of Uganda's fintech, banking, digital payments, or financial services landscape.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform commercial decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Operations, and Risk teams.
