Send a Cow Uganda (SACU) is a grassroots rural development Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that supports vulnerable households in Uganda to lift themselves out of poverty and become self-reliant. Send a Cow was founded in 1988 by a group of British Christian dairy farmers to help combat poverty and malnutrition in Uganda as a result of the civil strife. Since then, Send a Cow Uganda has supported close to one million people with innovative ways through training in better farming systems, enterprise development with the hindsight of gender and social change initiatives. We envision ‘A confident and thriving rural Africa’ whose mission is; To give communities and families the hope and the means to secure their futures from the land’ guided by our principle values of; Integrity, Stewardship and Accountability. SACU has had a footprint in over 40 districts of Uganda and is part of the bigger Send a Cow family in six other Countries of Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi and Zambia.
Currently, Send a Cow Uganda has ongoing projects and activities in Central, Eastern and Northern Uganda targeting and supporting vulnerable children, youth, women, refugees and host communities to improve their livelihoods.
