Our client, a fast-growing agritech company based in Uganda, is looking for a Sr. Manager - Learning & Development to lead and build the organization's L&D function from the ground up. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on designing learning ecosystems in a scaling business and wants to shape how a growing agritech workforce learns, develops, and performs across multiple geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and lead the L&D function end-to-end, including strategy, structure, systems, and governance for the organization.
  • Design and implement onboarding, leadership development, technical/functional training, and career development programs tailored to a multi-country, multi-cultural workforce.
  • Partner closely with business heads and HR leadership to identify skill gaps and build role-specific capability-building roadmaps.
  • Build and manage a scalable LMS/learning infrastructure, along with vendor and facilitator networks across regions.
  • Develop metrics and reporting frameworks to measure training effectiveness and business impact.
  • Lead, mentor, and eventually build out a team of L&D professionals as the function scales.
  • Drive a culture of continuous learning across field and corporate teams in Tanzania and other operating geographies.

Candidate Profile:

  • 8+ years of progressive L&D experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or head-of-function capacity.
  • Proven experience setting up or scaling an L&D function from an early stage, ideally in agritech, agriculture, FMCG, or a similar operations-heavy sector.
  • Strong instructional design, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working across diverse geographies and cultures is highly valued.
  • Willingness to be based in Tanzania and travel across the region as needed.

Why Join:Opportunity to build a function from scratch and leave a lasting imprint on a growing agritech business, with a high-visibility leadership role and direct access to senior leadership. Open to candidates from across Africa, Asia, Europe, and beyond.

Diversity & Inclusion:We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of background. As part of our ongoing commitment to DEI and gender equality, we especially encourage women in training, learning & development, and HR leadership careers to apply for this role. She matters, her leadership matters, and we're proud to support jobs for her in this growing organization.
