Background

Kabale University is located on Plot 364 Block 3 Kikungiri Hill, in Kabale Municipality, about a kilometre off Kabale-Katuna-Kigali Highway. The University can be accessed via Mukombe Road, which connects the Kikungiri Campus to the Highway. An additional Campus is located on Plots 66-76 in Nyabikoni Parish in the Central Division of Kabale Municipality.

Purpose

To providing technical assistance in studios during departmental projects to ensure effective delivery of practical-based courses in areas such as ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, product design, graphic design, fashion and textiles, and other applied design disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and preparing studios and workshops for practical teaching, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and readiness of equipment and materials.
  • Providing technical support to lecturers and students during practical classes, demonstrations, and workshops, including guidance on the proper use of tools, equipment, and artistic production techniques.
  • Operating, maintaining, and conducting basic repairs on workshop equipment and ensuring proper records of maintenance and usage are kept.
  • Managing workshop materials, tools, and consumables, including inventory control and supporting procurement by providing technical specifications.
  • Supporting students in practical assignments, exhibitions, research, fabrication, and final-year projects to achieve professional-quality outputs.
  • Assisting academic staff and students in research, innovation, prototyping, and the development of creative products while contributing to the improvement of production techniques and technologies.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards in all studio and workshop activities.

Requirements

  • Should have a degree in Fine Art or a relevant filed.
  • Practical skills and experience in art, design, fabrication, and studio practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain creative production equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with lecturers and students.
  • Problem-solving skills and willingness to support innovation and creative experimentation Submitted.
