Job Description
Oversee end to end water treatment plant operations, including deep borehole pumping, coagulation, filtration, reverse osmosis, and UV disinfection to support factory operations.
Ensure continuous, compliant, and safe treated water supply across the facility while safeguarding process equipment and water quality parameters.
Coordinate daily utility workflows, maintain operational standards, and protect environmental and food safety conditions across all water processing stations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate deep borehole pumping, chemical coagulation, sand and carbon filtration, reverse osmosis (RO), and UV disinfection units in line with standard operating procedures.
- Execute membrane clean in place (CIP) procedures, chemical dosing adjustments, and flow rate calibrations within authorized operational limits.
- Perform routine water purity, temperature, pressure, flow, and quality checks at defined intervals to detect deviations early.
- Isolate, contain, and report off specification water or equipment malfunctions promptly to prevent contamination or downstream production delays.
- Maintain complete, traceable, and legible shift logs, water test results, chemical inventory trackers, and equipment run records.
- Conduct thorough sanitation, changeovers, and routine cleaning of water treatment machinery, pipelines, and operating stations.
- Coordinate daily treated water requirements and maintenance windows closely with production and utility maintenance teams.
- Adhere strictly to occupational health, environmental safety, and hygiene regulations, including personal protective equipment usage and lockout/tagout protocols.

- Reverse osmosis membrane cleaning (CIP) and sanitation
- Flow rate calibration and pressure monitoring
- Water treatment process defect recognition and root cause troubleshooting
- PLC/HMI interface monitoring, digital logging, and technical documentation
Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma in Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering sciences.
Ordinary Diploma or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Food Processing, Production Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, or Applied Sciences.
National Certificate, Craft Certificate, or Technical Trade Certificate from an accredited TVET institution in an applicable industrial or technical discipline.
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for candidates with documented technical capability, strong literacy and numeracy, and extensive relevant industrial plant experience or certified supplier training.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing industrial water purification facilities.
