BACKGROUND
The Intern Finance is a financial administration role in terms of ensuring total compliance with IUCN policies. The overall objective of this position is to provide effective support to the Uganda Country Office Finance Unit in an effective, transparent and legally appropriate manner in conformity with IUCN policies and best practice and standards
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations in line with organizational policies and donor requirements. Finance procedures are followed in all transactions and accounting documents properly filed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Payment management;
Assist in Reviewing and process payment requests, ensuring all payments are authorized, recorded, and supported by relevant documentation.
Support the preparation and verification of expense claims, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
Assist in the preparation and processing of Travel Authorizations (TAs), ensuring compliance with internal policies and proper documentation.
Monitor and manage petty cash transactions.
Receipting, banking and ensuring a regular monitoring of bank balances.
Prepare Monthly Bank reconciliation reports
Statutory management;
Preparing returns for Statutory payroll deductions
Tracking and filling monthly withholding taxes
Assist with data capture into the accounting system
Financial records management;
Maintain finance registry by ensuring that all accounting documents are filed according to the established standards and donor requirements
Any other duties;
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education;
An Accounting degree from a recognized institution.
Progress towards attaining professional accounting qualifications is an added advantage
Work Experience;
Volunteer work or school projects
Strong motivation and willingness to learn
Language Proficiency;
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken english

Transparency: Able to build trust and contribute to informed and responsible decision making by carrying out the work of IUCN in a transparent manner; provides clear guidance to ensure that objectives and desired measurable results are understood by members of the team.
