Job Summary:
The Principal of the Nursing School provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high- quality nursing education. This role is responsible for compliance with all governing bodies, advancing the school’s mission, and serving as the primary representative to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing curricula and academic programs.
- Ensure student success, retention, and licensure pass rates meet institutional and accreditation benchmarks.
- Promote faculty and student research, innovation, and scholarly activities.
Administration and Operations
- Manage the operational and fi seal health of the school, including budget planning and resource allocation.
- Supervise facilities, laboratories, and equipment to ensure they meet program needs.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures in line with University and regulatory guidelines.
Faculty and Staff Management
- Lead recruitment, hiring, orientation, and evaluation of faculty and staff.
- Support professional development and foster a culture of collegiality, respect, and excellence.
External Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison with accreditation bodies, the Ministry of Nursing & Midwifery, and other regulatory agencies.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with healthcare facilities and community organizations to secure clinical placements and collaborative opportunities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education:
Master’s degree in Nursing is required; Doctorate in Nursing is an added advantage.
Licensure:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license is mandatory.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in nursing practice and leadership within nursing education.
- Prior teaching experience in nursing is required.
Skills:
Strong leadership, strategic planning, communication, fi seal management, and problem-solving abilities.
