JOB DETAILS:
Under the overall managerial and administrative leadership of the Caritas Switzerland (CACH) programme in Uganda by the Country Director, the Admin and Compliance Officer in Kampala is directly responsible for the office management in Kampala. The Admin and Compliance Officer is also responsible to ensure that CACH in Uganda meets compliance standards in line with the Ugandan law as well in terms of CACH rules and regulations. These responsibilities are closely coordinated with the Country Director as well as the Admin / Finance / HR Manager in Gulu.

Your duties
• Ensure the overall management of the Caritas Switzerland Office in Kampala, including all administrative tasks involved
• Support the Country Director in daily tasks as requested
• Organise and coordinate travels from Kampala to field offices and project sites, such as travel plans or vehicle usage in coordination with the Country Director and the Driver / Logistics Assistant in Kampala
• Ensure internal control mechanisms and core administrative requirements (in coordination with the Admin / Finance / HR Manager in Gulu and the CACH accounting and bookkeeping agent)
• Ensure that CACH in Uganda operates in line with Ugandan law and meets compliance standards according to local and CACH regulations, policies, procedures, and requirements Advise and support the Country Director as needed on compliance issues, and in ensuring that all CACH staff follow and implement established policies
• When required, train staff on rules and regulations in force for their correct implementation
• Advise Country Director on any weaknesses in internal controls that have the potential of negatively impacting the country programme

Our requirements

• Minimum 3 years work experience in handling office management and / or compliance issues
• Experience in dealing with government departments on issues of visas, registration, tax, movement of personnel, etc.
• Possess good knowledge of labour law and country legislation
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Law, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills, knowledge of a local language is an asset
• Ability to prioritize and commitment to meet deadlines
• Trustworthy personality with high degree of integrity
• Computer literate – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Internet Browsing
• Proven audit and or internal control review competencies and experience is a requirement

Your place of work will be Kampala, Uganda.
Starting date: 01.09.2023 or as agreed upon
Contract duration: 31.12.2024 with option of extension
Workload: 100 %
