JOB DETAILS:
We are looking for a Communication Advisor with expertise and experience in communication who will be responsible for the development of the VVOB Uganda Communication Strategy and coordinating its implementation. You will provide technical support and input to VVOB Advisors, Coordinators and partners in communication, networking, and advocacy on all VVOB’s programmes in the education sector in Uganda. You will also be responsible for the external and internal communication and the branding of VVOB Uganda.

The Communication Advisor operates from our Uganda Country Office in Kampala, with occasional travel to our operational partners.

Position of the
Communication Advisor
The Communication Advisor will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting the internal and external communication of the projects and increasing awareness, understanding and support of stakeholders and different target groups.

The Communication Advisor will support the development of the VVOB Uganda Communication Strategy and coordinate its implementation and will be responsible for the branding of VVOB Uganda.

The Communication Advisor reports to the Strategic Education Advisor Partnerships and Positioning/Country Programmes Manager. Furthermore, you work closely together with the different departments of VVOB in Uganda and with the Communication department at Head Office.

Result Areas:
Key responsibilities for the Communication Advisor are as follows:
1. You operationalize the global and country communication strategy on both internal and external communication, including capacity development of colleagues and partners.
2. You provide coordination, technical support, and advice to the VVOB colleagues and partners when needed (sharing programme updates, organisation,)
3. You coordinate the development of balanced communication outputs, identifying and using the best channels and media to reach the target group, as well as other stakeholders such as financial and technical partners.
4. You keep abreast with policy trends, take part in internal and external working groups, task forces, related to communication.

If you are our Communication Advisor, your workweek will include the following highlights:
• As a communication expert, you will meet with different VVOB Uganda colleagues to discuss and develop communication plans and products for various educational programmes.
• You will prepare weekly, monthly, and annual communication plans to support the VVOB communication agenda across all programmes.
• You will lead on the development of balanced communication outputs (including articles, blogs, and social media posts and visual tools such as info-graphs, pictures, and videos).
• As the communications expert, you will support with the lay-out and printing of publications.
• You will provide support in the improving of internal communication by regularly sharing programme updates and supporting efficient use of an online document management system.

Who are you?
• This position is open to Ugandan nationals only. Your expertise and experience:
• Master’s degree in communication, journalism or other relevant field or equivalent experience
• Expertise in developing internal and external communication and with the use of different media channels to do so (magazines, social media,)
• Expert understanding of digital, social, and other media and how to maximise impact and visibility for the organisation.
• Excellent computer skills in MS office and other relevant tools & technologies (digital media, graphic design tools…)
• Excellent command of the English language
