ActionAid International Uganda's mission is to achieve social Justice, gender equality, and poverty eradication by working with people living in extreme poverty and exclusion, their communities, people's organisations, activists, social movements and their supporters. We're now seeking to recruit suitably qualified, self-driven, result oriented, dynamic and competent persons willing to share with our Vision and the aspirations of our 5th Strategy to join the team in the following role
POSITION: Communications Officer (01) - re-advertised (all persons who had applied before are not eligible to apply)
Reports to: Country Director
Responsible for: None
Location: Head Office-Kampala.

Job Role:
• To provide professional support to the Country Director in handling and coordinating AAIU public relations
• mainstreaming media and social media relations and Corporate affairs Programmes and activities.
• The position will be required to manage social media platforms and AAIU websites in line with AA and AAIU communication policies and protocols.


Experience and Competences:
• At least three years of similar work experience from a reputable organization
• Competencies in Media or public relations experience, Materials development and Publishing skill
• Excellent written and public speaking skills,
• Photography and photo editing skills,
• Graphic design and layout skills,
• Marketing and Communications skills
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills,
• Demonstrated interest in the visual arts and community education,
• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Experience in managing websites, Solid problem-solving skills,
• Ability to conduct power analysis,
• Transformative feminist leadership skills,
• Ability to establish critical working relationships,
• Ability and willingness to comply with AAU/AAI safeguarding requirements.


Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's Degree in either information Science, Journalism/Mass Communications, Communications Science, Media Studies or Marketing from a recognized institution.
• A relevant Postgraduate qualification would be an added advantage.


Job Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in either information Science


Job Experience Requirements: three years of similar work experience
