OSPO now provides open-source program offices (OSPOs) as a service. We want to help organisations improve internal processes by streamlining their workflows with open-source solutions.

Role Context
We are seeking an experienced freelance community Manager to join our team to manage and grow the DRIVA community, Data Science Without Borders (DSVRs) is a pioneering initiative dedicated to leveraging data science to improve global health. We collaborate with leading experts and organisations to develop and implement innovative solutions that address critical health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Community Building & Engagement

  • Evaluate our community meeting schedule and design an engagement strategy to proactively grow and nurture an inclusive online and regional communities through Discord, IT calls, webinars, coworking sessions, and events.
  • Host and support community meetings, including:
    • Journal clubs
    • Working Group meetings
    • Coworking sessions
  • Regularly check I will members and follow up, hardship individuals or coordinators when input or updates are needed on activities.
  • Regularly review and plan for upcoming events and activities.

Community Operations

  • Support onboarding and offboarding of members.
  • Contribute to preparation for community events and meetings.
  • Creating key documentation such as onboarding and offboarding guides.

Monitoring, Reporting & Strategy

  • Track and report on engagement, participation, and other key impact metrics.
  • Develop community impact stories and case studies.
  • Conducts with the broader team to align community activities with strategic goals and contribute ideas for strategic community growth.

As a freelancer you will be expected to use our Notion databases to monitor your deliverables.

There may be the opportunity for occasional travel to in-person events; all related expenses will be covered.

About You
We are looking for someone who is an experienced Community Manager.

Required skills, abilities, and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a community manager and/or leading multiple online groups.
  • As well as 1-7-years experience in a project management based role such as a professional programme/events manager.
  • Projectful in English.
  • Ability to work independently without the need for external management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support in building and maintaining relationships.
  • Holding online events such as webinars.
  • Ability to proactively engage with people within your networks, including knowing when and how to check-in with people.

Optional skills, abilities, and experience (definitely not essential but good for us to know if you have them)

  • Knowledge of French is useful
  • Knowledge of open-source principles are useful.
  • Experience with Github may be helpful but training will be provided if required.
