On behalf of Our client in the manufacturing sector, we are looking for competent and experienced EHS Officer to be based in Jinja
Reports To: Senior Human Resources Officer/General Manager.
Job Summary: The EHS Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in the company. This role involves identifying hazards, enforcing safety protocols, conducting training, and promoting a culture of safety and sustainability. The EHS Officer plays a key role in preventing accidents, minimizing environmental impact, and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft, implement and maintain policies and guidelines on Environment safety and Health. ·
- Review and update the corporate EHS management system manual and monitor its implementation.
- Prepare EHS training plan and in coordination with the human resources department, provide relevant trainings to the staff.
- Formulating corporate short term and long term EHS objectives and plans.
- Carry out accident and incident investigations.
- Promote EHS plans, monitor and evaluate and report performance against plans.
- Maintain auditing expertise and ensure of the quarterly/yearly audit plans/programs.
- Maintain contact with external parties regarding the environment, Health and Safety, including government authorities, legislative bodies, local councils and industrial groups.
- Provide advice on Environment, Health and Safety to line departments.
- Promote the potential incident reporting culture by compiling all filled reports.
- Compile EHS data and report all reportable incidents to Head of Departments accurately and within specified time frame.
- Ensure 100% PPEs compliance across the factory.
- Any other duties assigned.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO 45001, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in a heavy manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational safety regulations.
- Proficient in risk assessment, accident investigation, and EHS reporting.
- Good communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
