Recruitment focus: One qualified female trainer to strengthen gender inclusion and female learner mentorship
Job purpose
To deliver inclusive, practical and competence-based ICT training and assessment while serving as a professional role model and mentor for female learners. The trainer will prepare learners for employment, further training, digital entrepreneurship and responsible participation in technology-enabled workplaces.
Regulatory and professional alignment
The post shall be performed in accordance with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act, 2025; current TVET Council human-resource, registration, licensing and continuing professional development requirements; the curriculum or training package approved for the programme; applicable UVTAB assessment rules and centre procedures; occupational safety and health requirements; and Institute policies. The trainer must remain eligible to train and assess within the scope authorised by the competent regulators.
Key duties and responsibilities
Training planning and delivery
- Prepare work plans, schemes of work, activity plans, lesson plans, worksheets, practical projects and training materials.
- Deliver practical training in computer applications, operating systems, hardware, networking, internet use and digital productivity.
- Teach introductory programming, databases, web or digital-media skills where these are part of the approved programme.
- Integrate entrepreneurship, communication, employability, online safety, data protection and responsible use of technology.
Assessment and learner evidence
- Develop assessment plans, practical tasks, rubrics and marking guides aligned to approved learning outcomes.
- Conduct continuous and summative assessment and maintain accurate learner portfolios and competence records.
- Participate in moderation, internal verification, external assessment and assessment-security procedures.
- Provide timely, specific feedback and organise remedial or extension activities based on evidence.
Laboratory systems and cyber safety
- Maintain computer-laboratory inventories, user accounts, software licences, maintenance logs and issue records.
- Apply basic network, endpoint, backup, malware-prevention, access-control and dataprotection practices.
- Enforce safe use of electrical equipment, ergonomic workstations and responsible disposal of electronic waste.
- Report equipment faults, security incidents and resource needs promptly.
Learner support gender inclusion and mentorship
- Create a respectful learning environment in which women and men participate fully in practical activities.
- Mentor female learners on confidence, career pathways, workplace readiness, safeguarding and progression in technology fields.
- Monitor attendance, progress and conduct and refer welfare or safeguarding concerns through approved channels.
- Support clubs, innovation projects, competitions, industrial attachment and career guidance.
Industry linkage and professional development
- Build relationships with ICT employers, service providers, innovation hubs and placement organisations.
- Use employer feedback and current technology practice to improve examples, projects and laboratory activities.
- Maintain trainer registration, licensing and continuing professional development as required.
- Participate in inspections, programme reviews, staff meetings and quality-improvement actions.

Essential education and professional qualifications
- Female applicant with a National Diploma, Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
- Basic andragogy training and eligibility for TVET Council trainer registration and licensing.
- A recognised instructor qualification such as DITTE, PGDTTE or an accepted equivalent, where prescribed for the appointment.
- Demonstrable practical competence appropriate to the approved ICT programme and level.
Essential experience
- At least two years of relevant ICT industry, technical-support, systems, networking, software or digital-services experience.
- Experience teaching, training, coaching, supervising interns or mentoring learners in practical ICT skills.
- Experience maintaining a computer laboratory, user environment or ICT service records.
Preferred qualifications and experience
- Experience delivering competence-based education and practical assessment in a TVET setting.
- Industry certification in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, cloud services, software development or digital productivity.
